Foundations in Global Service
Originally from Western Illinois, Mr. Archer’s worldview was profoundly shaped by his early education abroad and by his father, Dr. DK Archer’s, establishment of Kentish College—an institution for underprivileged children in rural Jamaica. Dr. Archer instilled a deep comittment to service and multiculturalism in his son, Will. He learned English and Arabic at a formative age and studied Latin, French and Spanish as well. Among the most formative experience was their Father and Son pilgrimage to the cities of Mecca and Medina in 1984. This profoundly shaped Archer’s view of our shared humanity and respect for all people. Sadly months after this pivot journey, Dr. DK Archer died of prostate cancer in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Will Archer spent the next 9 years in boarding schools in Kent, England and Montego Bay, Jamaica attending the prestigious Ashford School and Cornwall College. In Cornwall College, Will distinguished himself in Student Government serving as President of Jamaica’s National Secondary Student Council in 1992. Upon graduation, he returned to the United States with passion for service and leadership.
